Here we are. Together! It’s FANTASTIC!
Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel challenged us to live our lives as works of art.
One thing about being an artist:
it is at least as much about creating as it is about the creation.
Creating is one of the things I most love to do.
Create meaning? Absolutely. Create possibilities? Of course. Create experiences? What else!

That’s what I’m here for.
What are you here for?

Are you looking for meaning?
Are you looking for possibilities?
Are you looking for Jewish experiences?
Are you here for something else?

Whatever it is, I am so glad you are here.

Me in a long sleeved blue shirt with a gold chanukiah. I'm wearing a navy blue hat on which I painted a dreidel with a shin and the words "shin's how I roll" My face is very animated and I'm in the middle of teaching in my classzoom.

It’s awesome that our paths have crossed and we are here together.

where shall we go next?

Another way to support my work is by “Buying me coffee” with a $5 contribution.

#HonorNativeLand

Every community owes its existence and vitality to generations from around the world who contributed their hopes, dreams, and energy to making the history that brought us to this moment. Some were brought here against their will, some were drawn to this place in the hope of a better life, and some have lived on this land for more generations than can be counted. Honesty and acknowledgment are critical to building mutual respect and and connection. I begin to honor this truth by recognizing that I live and work on the ancestral lands and unceded territories of the Wahpekute, Anishinabe (Ojibwe), Očeti Šakówiŋ (Sioux), and Tiwa Peoples. I pay respect to their elders past and present. By living and working in these places, histories of displacement, violence, migration, and settlement become part of my history.

My wife and I are financially committed to reparations for Indigenous Americans. We have chosen to transfer resources through the American Indian College Fund and Migizi.

My awareness and activism are works in progress. Please contact me to recommend corrections or additions. If you are writing an acknowledgement to #honornativeland I recommend reading this and this.
